I built Golden Connection because of my grandmother.
She lived alone in a small town in Louisiana for years. Her grandchildren were scattered across the country — some in Tulsa, some in Houston, some in Atlanta. Video calls were the lifeline that could keep the family together. But she was terrified of the technology.
The first time I sat with her and we finally got it working — the first time she saw my cousin's face on that screen — she burst into tears. She said she hadn't seen him in two years. We all cried.
Three weeks later, someone nearly stole her savings in a phishing scam.
I'm a veteran. I spent my career building secure payment systems that protect millions of people from fraud. I understand what it means when systems fail the vulnerable. But I couldn't protect my own grandmother — not because the technology was too complex, but because nobody had ever sat down with her, patiently, and taught her.
So Golden Connection was born from that failure. We go to rural towns and underserved communities. We sit down with seniors. We take our time. We don't talk down. We teach skills, safety, and connection — for free — because digital access should never be a privilege.
